Keep it Clean. Keep it Open

About

Clean-Dezert.org is a body of concerned off-road enthusiasts that are committed to educating the younger generation about how they can maintain and improve our desert resources, keep the land open, and improve the image of the off-road culture. With the growing concerns over illegal dumping in desert OHV areas, the off-road community must take steps towards reversing the reputation of desert goers as the ones responsible for these actions. By rallying fellow off-roaders in our cause, we make a positive contribution to the communities surrounding OHV areas, as well as showing that we respect our desert privileges and strive to keep them open.

Clean-Dezert  relies on the strength of our volunteers and sponsors to support the cause by donating their time and financial support at sponsored clean-ups, as well as any time they are in the desert. These individuals are giving up weekends to make sure nails are being removed from camping sights, stoves are being removed from the race course, and trails are being cleaned to beautify the land. Clean-Dezert not only wants to put on events that clean the desert, but also show how fun the experience can be. So while we clean, we strive to provide a good time and a quality event like no other.

Clean-Dezert, in association with the Barstow Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management, hosts a primary Annual Barstow Clean-up in the fall, which focuses on the areas near Outlet Center Drive. This area is an extremely popular OHV area that hosts many desert races and the ease of access make it a large target for illegal dumping.

Clean-Dezert also tries to make an impact in the desert by attending and supporting off-road desert races all over Southern California. From the MDR North Series in Barstow and Lucerne, to the MDR South and DRIVE races in Plaster City, and many in between. Clean-Dezert supporters supply trash bags/cans for campers, clean up camping areas after a race, and sponsor race promotions. Participating in mini clean-ups and clean-ups in other OHV areas, Clean-Dezert further helps spread awareness of the organization and its goals. Clean-Dezert uses off-road forum boards and mass e-mails to gain support and post information regarding all events, in an effort to get as many desert enthusiasts involved as possible.

Joining the Cause

Clean-Dezert’s efforts have attracted an ever-increasing scope of attention in the last two years of operation, due mostly to the generous contributions from members of the off-road industry. Clean-Dezert’s target market is the younger generation of desert enthusiast as well as older members that have always wanted an outlet to help keep the areas they’ve grown up, and raised children in, open. The younger segment of the off-road community is virtually untouched by older off-road organizations. By the way of hosting product raffles in return for clean-up participation, Clean-Dezert has attracted thousands of volunteers to their events since inception, ensuring that companies give back to those who participated with prizes they may not have been able to afford on their own.

Sponsors of Clean-Dezert are given the opportunity to give back to the organization and its volunteers, while increasing their exposure to many levels of the off-road community, and doing their part to keep our deserts clean and open. Sponsors increase their companies’ exposure and create a positive visual and verbal connection with the target market. Exposure and prize giveaways help sponsors increase their business, in these times of hard economic uncertainty and close competition. Customers that receive products or gift certificates from sponsors are more likely to continue doing business with, and recommending, companies that are willing to go the extra mile to help out the average guy or beginner to the sport.

The topic of land closure is a concern to all off-road desert-goers, and the efforts of Clean-Dezert have not gone unnoticed. By partnering with us, you will be joining a worthy cause that will help ensure the future of our desert areas as well as improving the reputation and responsible actions of future generations.
